Capitola Food

From the Village, to Pleasure Point, to the bustling scene on 41st Avenue, each microcosm of Capitola has a unique flavor – just pick the food that matches your mood.

In Capitola Village, we have to start with Shadowbrook Restaurant. This classic has been serving fare since 1947 and is a staple in Capitola Culture. If you haven’t eaten here before, we question whether you’ve even been to Capitola in the first place.

For a beach view restaurant, you’ll have to eat at favorites like Margaritaville, Zelda’s at the Beach, or the ever-classic, Pizza My Heart Capitola – and yes, you must get the $7 novelty T-shirt!

Amid the shops of the Village you’ll also find tasting rooms that will entice you with local wines (we’re currently crushing on Cork and Fork Capitola). Tucked into the back of the Village, on an unassuming street, you’ll also find Trestles. This new hot spot offers seasonal dining with dishes like Ahi Tuna Carpaccio and Caramelized Scallops – at least, that’s what’s on the menu now!

The cuisine scene on 41st Avenue runs right into Pleasure Point, but each has a distinct flavor. For laid-back grub, Pleasure Point brings you plenty of options. Grab food from Zameen at the Point, East Side Eatery, or Chill Out Cafe. Süda is another fantastic option near the Point that serves specialty cocktails and ocean-influenced mains. Further up 41st will give you an entirely new menu of options, which include Strock office favorites like East End Gastropub, Pono Hawaiian Grill, and Cafe Cruz.

Capitola Family

From large families to couples, to fams with more paws than people, you can find the perfect home to fit your needs. First of all, living in Capitola means living in one of the sunniest parts of the Bay. We can’t count how many times we’ve driven along Highway One, just to have the clouds part once we reach Capitola City limits. We’re not questioning the deal made with the weather gods – we’re just passing it along.

For smaller families looking for less space to take care of, Capitola offers a host of townhome and condo options – many of them with ocean views. The condos along Park Avenue just outside of the Village are a prime option. Watch the sunset every evening between the eucalyptus trees or walk to the Village in under 10 minutes. The Capitola Knolls is another cubby in this community that features 2-3 bedrooms townhomes. All of the space, every convenience, but none of the yard work.

In the way of Single Family Homes, you’ve got your pick. The Park Avenue and Jewell Box neighborhoods are the perfect places for your growing family and feature beautiful homes in established neighborhoods. If we’re dialing up the luxury, look no further than Opal Cliffs, for my-backyard-is-the-ocean vibes, or Depot Hill, which is objectively the most sought-after neighborhood in Capitola (and maybe Santa Cruz County).

FIN
Moving to the community of Capitola is moving to an ocean-obsessed, laid-back, local-centric, gorgeous, sunny, community. Any size family and every coastally driven individual will find the perfect place to beach for a summer, a season, or for life.

Capitola Fun

Another thing you need to know about Capitola: this city is always looking for an excuse to host a festival. Seriously – and we love them for it! From the Art & Wine Festival to the Capitola Beach Festival, to the traditional Wharf To Wharf Race, Capitola is an epicenter of local celebration.

On the three non-festival days (kidding) you can have just as much fun perusing local shops. In the Village, Strock office favorites include Ethos, an earth-friendly home goods store, Lumen Gallary, your not-so-typical gift shop, and Capitola Beach Company, with their coined Keep Capitola Salty slogan.

Capitola Fitness

To work up an appetite, or maybe work off all of the food, you’ll want to get your blood pumping. Warm up with a walk along East Cliff Drive. This one-mile round-trip iconic strip gives you stellar views of the water (not to mention, that it’s one of the sunniest stretches of the Bay). You can walk, run, bike, or rollerskate along the paved path while watching the surfers.

This brings us to our next activity: surfing. All along East Cliff Drive, from The Hook to Soquel Point, you’ll find some of the best waves in California. If getting in the frigid water is not your goal, you can stay safely on the sand of Capitola Beach or New Brighten Beach (maybe with a cup of Cat N Cloud Coffee in hand).
