Welcome to Scotts Valley

Scotts Valley Real Estate & Community

Scotts Valley real estate and community is perfect for the family who doesn’t want to choose between the Bay Area or living on the coast. And the secret advantage about not choosing the beach or the Bay? You get the gorgeous redwooded Santa Cruz Mountains. That means living 15 minutes from the sand and 20 minutes from the city – welcome, Goldilocks.

Scotts Valley Food

Downtown Scotts Valley has all of the usual suspects – Peet’s Coffee, Jamba Juice, McDonald’s – but the usual is hardly why you’ll love the culinary scene. Firstly, every summer the locally loved Skypark rallies fan fav food trucks for Taco Tuesdays. Once a month there’s also a Food Truck Friday that features plenty of fresh fare, live music, and a wine + beer garden!

When you aren’t chowing down at Skypark, you’ll have to check out acclaimed Otoro Sushi (we’re talking 4.5 stars on Yelp, out of 900+ reviews) – diners love the bento boxes, custom rolls, and Chicken Katsu. Soul Sweets The Tea House is another must-try, offering all types of boba teas, unique soft serve ice cream flavors (like Tiger Boba soft serve!), and fluffy egg waffles. Also, come in the mood for listening to K-pop, because it will be playing. More of a coffee lover? Grab a cup of joe from Coffee Cat, a java joint serving locally roasted coffee beans and good eats.

Finish out your food tour by sipping the afternoon away. Relax in the tasting room at Kissed by an Angel Wines or head out to Pelican Ranch Winery to enjoy a glass of red under the redwoods. We have to mention one more of our favorites: Bottle Jack Winery is ~technically~ located in Santa Cruz, but it’s practically in Scotts Valley and from up here, it has spectacular ocean views!

Scotts Valley Family

Still in the mood for a sip of wine, but make it family-friendly? Try Cinelux Scotts Valley Cafe & Lounge, my friend. This is one of the only theaters in the county that serves wine and beer, so your kids get to see their fav releases, and you enjoy the movie with your favorite beverage. Cheers! For more family fun, head over to A Brighter World Tie Dye Studio. Tie-dye shirts, socks, bandanas, and more, or take a to-go kit and create at home.

For family fun focused on the outdoors, head over to the Glenwood Open Space Preserve for hiking, biking, and wildflower hunting. Take horseback riding lessons at the nearby Glenwood Equestrian Center, then hit the trails that are just for horses and hikers! Or if fishing is more your thing, visit local fishing hole Vern Hart Fishing Park.

So that’s a bit of the stuff in Scotts Valley, but this techy mountain town also has a serious side: Scotts Valley school district ranks as one of the highest-scoring in the entire county. The high school is known for exemplary academic programs and an equally impressive athletics program.

Scotts Valley Fun

Scotts Valley is perfect for the family who doesn’t want to choose between the Bay Area or living on the coast. And the secret advantage about not choosing the beach or the Bay? You get the gorgeous redwooded Santa Cruz Mountains. That means living 15 minutes from the sand and 20 minutes from the city – welcome, Goldilocks.

From downtown, gather the fam and head back over to the aforementioned Skypark (yes, we remember the food trucks). Play soccer, tennis, pickleball, bocce ball, or dial it up by hitting the skate park and pump track. Skypark also has a couple of play structures and swings for the littler family members, so everyone can find something fun.

The Scotts Valley lifestyle is pretty unbeatable – keep the Silicon Valley job, retreat to the mountains, AND live 15 minutes from the beach? Whoever said you can’t have it all clearly has never visited Scotts Valley.

Scotts Valley Fitness

Lastly, we have to mention 1440 Multiversity. Under a canopy of redwoods, this luxe retreat will completely take you by surprise. Whenever we stop by, we always get serious Yosemite Ahwahnee Hotel vibes. Stay at the wellness center for a retreat, or participate in their seasonal community events: Wellness Wednesday Yoga, Mindful Movie Night, and Sunday Family Meals.
